This week as an added extra offering to you all we managed to track down long-time football journalist Martin Hardy TouchingDistancewhose name you might recognise from his days on the Sunday Sun in years gone by as well as The Mail and The Independent.

Martin is now with the Sunday Times but has recently published his first book TOUCHING DISTANCE which of course is a tour-de-force of the 95/96 season when it almost happened and we were Champions of England. Almost.

In the book, Martin has a whole treasure trove of interviews with former players, personalities of the era and is a fascinating insight into one of the greatest seasons in our modern history, the images from which still form the leif-motif of Newcastle United FC.

We were delighted when Martin accepted our invitation to join us on one of our Podcasts to talk about his book and we hope you enjoy listening to the story of the book and some crack about that season as much as we did recording it.

To listen to the Podcast, just click here.

The book is available at all good bookshops and that will obviously include The Backpage on St Andrew’s Street but also Waterstones (details on book signings to follow) but you can also get the book from Amazon here.

The book is also available on Kindle here

Martin has some dates arranged regarding a couple of talk-ins regarding the book up and coming in Cramlington and Whitley Bay and we’ll have the full details for you here as soon as we have them confirmed.

There is more information about TOUCHING DISTANCE here as well

That is all.
