A so-called national newspaper is claiming Newcastle United has used up four millions of pounds to release Steve Bruce from his contract at Sheffield Wednesday. That fee does not extend to the contracts of Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence. It is alleged that United have paid the cash up front for Bruce which appears to be a staggering amount of money for a manager who will be very fortunate to see the reason out at St James’ Park and as things currently stand will do very well to keep the club in the Premier League.

The Sheff Wed owner Dejphon Chansiri may have pulled down Mike Ashley’s pants on this deal but is rightly furious Bruce has been spending money on players to build for a new season but then done one before it even started. He’s got a point but it isn’t the first time Bruce has shown staggering disloyalty towards his club as has been demonstrated throughout his career.
