Labour Leader, Jeremy Corbyn, speaking at the Durham Gala yesterday had words of rebuke for Mike Ashley and his running of Newcastle United. Corbyn drew parallels between Ashley’s Victorian workhouse conditions at his S****s D****t Shirebrook warehouse and Newcastle United to the cheers of those in attendance.

For those who might accuse Corbyn of jumping on a bandwagon to push local buttons, it should be noted, the Labour Party has had a long-standing desire to address ownership issues within football.

Anyone who needs evidence of that should consult to the 2015 Labour Party Manifesto which contained clear references to the governance of football.
