Dúbravka – 6 – Didn’t have much to do in a game we really should have won. Can’t be blamed for their goal but he still isn’t filling me with any confidence. I think he’ll be gone in the Summer.
Trippier – 7 – Showed his pedigree and class and easily one of our best players on the day. Defensively was brilliant and he played his part further up the pitch too. He is undoubtedly a fantastic signing but right backs don’t win you games of football.
Lascelles – 2 – Absolutely dreadful. This bloke has totally forgotten how to pass a football. I lost count of how many mistakes he made. We have to sign a new centre half before Leeds and Everton, it’s as simple as that.
Schär – 5 – Did okay in a game we dominated. Didn’t have that much to do against poor opposition but I thought he could have shown more fight.
Dummett – 8 – One of the very few positives to take from today. A really good display at left back and didn’t really put a foot wrong. His first game back for the club in 237 days and you never would have known. For that reason alone he was my man of the match.

Shelvey – 4 – Offered very little in the middle of the park. He has been much better since Eddie Howe has come in but this wasn’t one of his better games. Looked incredibly lethargic and if I’m honest he just didn’t look bothered – poor.
Longstaff – 3 – Much like his midfield partner above he offered absolutely nothing. Coasted through 90 minutes and was far too sloppy in possession. I honestly wouldn’t be bothered if we sold him tomorrow. The worst player on the pitch today bar Lascelles.
Joelinton – 7 – Very good again in the middle of the park. Ran himself ragged and gave absolutely everything for the shirt. That’s all you can really ask. He bullied Sissoko from the get go, and he was the driving force behind most of our attacks. Points dropped for the absolute sitter he missed in the first half but I can’t fault the lad’s commitment today. Jonjo and Sean could learn a thing or two from the Brazilian.
Fraser – 6 – Never stopped running from the first whistle but tired near the end. I’m a huge fan of the lad but he needs to get a run in the team. Started to show signs today of why he was brought to the club and I am hopeful he will be the man to make the bullets for Wood to fire.

Saint-Maximin – 7 – Would have had a much lower mark if it hadn’t been for his stroke of genius in the 49th minute. The best goal I’ve seen at St. James’ this season and for that alone he gets a high mark. Apart from that he wasn’t particularly great. Right now it feels like if he doesn’t score in a game we’re done for.
Wood – 5 – Held the ball up well enough but it wasn’t one of the best debuts I’ve seen. Wasn’t particularly easy on the eye but he was starved of service. Was underwhelmed when his signing was announced and he didn’t do anything today to convince me otherwise. He’s no Callum Wilson.
