Gateshead v Bradford Park Avenue, International Stadium, KO: 3pm, 26/Mar/22, National League.
We have been contacted by Gateshead FC and invited to their National League game at the International Stadium this Saturday. Our friends and neighbours the Tynesiders are playing host to Bradford Park Avenue, a famous old club from whom Newcastle United signed the late, great Joe Harvey back in the 1940s.
Gateshead kindly offered TRUE FAITH complimentary tickets for the match but we have declined. If we go to non-league games we will always pay our way so whilst we appreciate Gateshead’s kindness, we’ll pay on the turnstile and feel as though we’re investing in one of our great local clubs rather than taking a freebie we don’t need.
As I’m sure you all know Gateshead is managed by ex-Newcastle United centre-half Mike Williamson. Gateshead are currently top of the National League and pushing for promotion. These are great days at Gateshead but with no Newcastle United this weekend, the weather getting a bit brighter and Covid restrictions having relaxed , this is a great opportunity to get out the house and take in a good game of football involving a Geordie team which happens to be Newcastle United’s closest neighbour.
We could not wish Gateshead more success and we’ll be down the International Stadium in a Black & White scarf shouting Howay the Lads for a great Geordie team!
Hope to see you there.
