The event at the Westgate Centre For Sport in Newcastle, featured 16 different teams from schools across the north east.
Newcastle Community Football made sure everything ran smoothly on the day and that the matches had the right balance of commitment but also fair play.
The schools involved ranged from those on both sides of the Tyne and the football was of a very high standard.
The competition ended up with an excellent Whickham Parochial (pictured above) beating Milecastle (pictured below) 5-3 in the final. (Milecastle were also last years runners up). The other semi-finalists were South Street, Gateshead and Our Lady & St Anne’s RC.The trophies and medals were presented by Police Constable Jay Staff (pictured) of the football unit.
In addition, all children who took part received a JUSTNewcastle junior supporter pack.
The NUST spectacular giant shirt also made an appearance, the 15m x 10m shirt having been kindly presented to the Trust by Northern Rock (now Virgin Money), to help with NUST’s work in the community.
JUSTNewcastle intend this week’s tournament to be only the third of many (depending on future funding), helping to connect the children of the north east with our beloved football club.
All donations and offers of help gratefully received by JUSTNewcastle to help with the Junior Trust’s work in the community.
