Leazes Flags are organising a fund-raising event at the Tyneside Irish Centre with the intention of raising funds to support the purchase of a new surfer flag to be displayed at the Leazes End. It is also hoped funds will be raised for the Newcastle United Fans Foodbank.

The star attraction of the night will be Steve Howey, a key part of the great Kevin Keegan team that came so close to winning the Premier League title in 1996.

Steve remains based in the North East and has become a much respected pundit, known for his adherence to the facts, common-sense points of views and putting a few empty-headed goons in their place when opining on matters Newcastle United, its supporters and even the city itself.

We’re sure this will be a brilliant night and we can be confident the people behind Leazes Flags will use the funds raised to provide great spectacle in St James’ Park and emulate the great work achieved by Gallowgate Flags and now Wor Flags have at the Gallowgate End.

The night with Steve Howey at the Tyneside Irish Centre will be a great Christmas present as well as give us some motivation to get through the depressing and dark months of January.
